Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

No. Insurance only covers foot care if it is performed in an office setting by a doctor. My services are private pay only.

Who are your services for?

Anyone in need of routine foot care who has difficulty performing it themselves, or who has complex medical conditions affecting their feet (diabetics, those with compromised immunity, poor circulation, impaired mobility, etc). Seniors and patients living in nursing homes or care facilities utilize my care often, but my services are for anyone who needs them.

Why do I need a foot care nurse instead of going to a nail salon?

Foot care nurses are medical professionals who are specially trained to identify abnormalities in your feet and help you manage them before they become bigger issues. We are trained to administer safe care in the context of your medical situation. We also adhere to medically established guidelines for infection control and cleaning/disinfecting our equipment. These are all benefits a nail salon cannot offer you.

Do you soak feet?

No. Current research shows that soaking feet is often more harmful than helpful. It can encourage infection and worsen many existing conditions. There are limited instances where soaking is beneficial, and I will guide you in the proper techniques for soaking if it will be helpful for you.

Do you paint nails?

No. My services are medical in nature and focus solely on the health of your feet.

Can you treat ingrown toenails?

Yes and no. Nails that are impacted are often mislabeled as "ingrown". In these cases I can thoroughly clean the toenail sidewalls and trim the nail edges. If a nail is fully embedded, extremely painful, or shows signs of infection I will refer you to a podiatrist for further appropriate care.

Are you a replacement for a podiatrist?

No. My role is to provide safe and appropriate routine foot care to keep your feet healthy and help you avoid problems. As an RN, I am not able to diagnose medical conditions. I can identify abnormalities in your foot health and recommend simple changes in foot wear or use of over the counter products. Podiatrists are highly trained and skilled doctors than can diagnose conditions, write prescriptions, perform surgeries, and perform complex procedures in the office.

Do you offer clinics?

Yes. If there is a group of people in one location that are in need of my services, I am happy to schedule a clinic day. Please contact me to discuss the details further.

What areas do you service?

My typical service areas include Colorado Springs and Monument. I am willing to travel as far as Peyton, Falcon, and Woodland Park for an additional fee.
